September arrived and brought with it the best leftovers of peak summer. Plentiful sunshine with the boiling heat we've endured the months prior stepping down to a simmer. I just couldn't allow another summer to pass without bringing this skirt to the finish line.

So I finally finished up my tiered [Mave skirt, by True Bias patterns](https://truebias.com/blogs/wardrobe-inspiration/introducing-the-mave-skirt-sewing-pattern?ref=sewboring.com), just in time for our two-year wedding anniversary last month. Again, there's really nothing impressive about this since this skirt has been a UFO (unfinished object) on my sewing table for over a year now.

I'm no stranger to a sewing slump, but always relieved when I get my motivation back especially since I had maybe another hour of work remaining to complete it. I got lucky with this UFO because sometimes after a long stretch of time I'm questioning my initial fabric choices and unsure if I can even fit the pattern size I initially cut. But everything worked out perfectly in the end. I'm still smitten by this dizzying floral-meets-abstract-meets-random-stripes pattern from [Mood](https://www.moodfabrics.com/products/mood-exclusive-fragmented-flourishings-cotton-voile-md0517?ref=sewboring.com). AND this cotton voile was a sale find so I snatched three yards for around thirty bucks.

Taking in the neighborhood sights as we walk to brunch on a perfectly late September morning.

Opting for the three-tiered version of this pattern was an easy choice since I had the yardage. In hindsight, I probably should've picked a less busy fabric if I actually wanted the tiers to be noticeable. It pretty much looks like your basic long flowy skirt, but that is the least of my worries. The voile is perfectly crisp and light. I've already worn it two days in a row so you know the love is real.
